The no-fault ground of irreconcilable differences is most common under N.J.S.A. 2A:34-2. The marriage must have been broken for at least six months. Fault grounds such as desertion or extreme cruelty are also available. The final judgment becomes a public record at the courthouse. You can get a divorce certificate from the NJ Department of Health for $25.

The certificate shows just the names, date, and county. The judgment has all terms on property, custody, and support. Most Vineland residents who need to prove their divorce for legal reasons want the full judgment.
